Special Area Digital Reality at TTC 2018: The Future has already begun

Digital Reality Skizze_06

The digital transformation is changing the tire business drastically and has already seized the whole industry. This raises many questions: How does digital transformation change the business? Which impact do Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things already have on production processes? What do terms such as Connected Mobility and Predictive Maintenance mean? And how does the digital transition impact the trade and service sectors?

THE TIRE COLOGNE: an enTIRE hall for the international retreading and recycling industry

Retreading and sustainability are issues that have an enormous potential for the industry’s development. That’s why THE TIRE COLOGNE will honour them with their own hall – as a platform and meeting point for global innovation and market leaders.

The premiere of the trade show in May 2018 is approaching fast, and already now, THE TIRE COLOGNE, as the leading industry event, is setting a course for the future by giving the growing segments for tire remoulding and recycling and disposal of old tires an exclusive platform in hall 9. Among others, global market leaders Kraiburg, T.R.M. Srl Tyre Retreading Machinery, B&J Rocket, VIPAL, Carl Zeiss and Salvadori will be represented. Issue-specific events and dedicated spaces throughout the fairground complement the offer.

THE TIRE COLOGNE: Three questions to Andreas Niegsch, Bridgestone Deutschland GmbH

1. How does your company adapt itself to the industry’s current trends?

Bridgestone stands for safety, innovation and service. Two of our milestones, for example, are the Run-Flat technology and the DriveGuard – a tire that allows the driver to maintain control even after a puncture and safely continue driving for 50 miles at up to 50 mph. In addition to safety, sustainability plays an important role for us. In 2015 we were the first manufacturer to introduce a tire for a passenger car consisting of natural rubber from the guayule plant. Moreover, we developed the Ologic technology which helps reduce the fuel consumption and its related CO2 emissions. One of our goals is to be able produce all our tires, without exception, from sustainable materials by 2050. As a result, we have been listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.
